Insurance and Insurance Defense

It is unusual, however, to find individuals in companies who truly understand their coverage needs and limitations. Our insurance practice begins with the basics: knowing and understanding various coverages and the way the insurance industry works. Our insurance practice group has years of industry expertise in providing coverage analysis, filing and defending declaratory judgment actions, litigating indemnity agreements and defending bad-faith lawsuits against insurance companies. In the past, we have represented insurance companies including virtually all lines of insurance from commercial and comprehensive general liability, to personal and commercial auto, homeowners and professional liability. Indeed, a number of the lawyers of this practice group have worked as legal counsel and claims attorneys for many different insurance companies at various points in their careers.

The first has recently been included in bad faith litigation arising out of Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Ike. We successfully negotiated and favorably resolved cases for a number of carriers filed in Jefferson County.

Insurance defense is a primary source of litigation practice in the firm. Although recently our firm's name has been associated with more high-profile catastrophic cases involving death and serious bodily injury, the practice group continues to represent individuals and companies in virtually all aspects of insurance defense including personal auto lines, homeowner liability, premises liability, construction defects, trucking accidents, products liability and professional malpractice. The outstanding results we have achieved in trial have fostered and developed long-standing relationships with most of the major insurance companies in the marketplace. Our insurance attorneys represent carriers and their insureds in both first-party claims and third-party actions.
