Mr. Benbenek’s practice is focused on the healthcare industry. He has over twenty years of experience involving a wide variety of areas including counseling healthcare clients on compliance and integrity measures, joint ventures and business transactions, hospital-physician contracting, physician employment, recruitment and contracting, hospital operational issues and agreements, medical staff relationships, and not-for-profit hospital tax-exemption issues. Mr. Benbenek also specializes in healthcare regulatory advice and counsels healthcare clients concerning compliance on a broad range of regulatory matters including HIPAA, EMTALA, the Texas and federal anti-kickback and fraud and abuse laws, and the physician self-referral "Stark" law. Mr. Benbenek also has a significant amount of "in-house" experience advising and counseling healthcare clients and prior to joining Byrne, Cardenas & Aris, LLP, as Of Counsel, he served as General Counsel for Baylor Health Care System in Dallas, Texas, and also served as Regional General Counsel for CHRISTUS Health in Houston, Texas.

Joe and his wife Pam have two daughters, Maddie and Ellie.
